Well Integrity Assessment & Portfolio Management
Ageing asset portfolio · 4-category classification · Regulatory audit passed
Project Overview
An operator with a large portfolio of ageing production wells engaged SPD to conduct a systematic well integrity review across their entire asset base. Successive rounds of staff reductions had eroded in-house integrity capability, and an upcoming regulatory audit had created an urgent need to establish a documented, defensible integrity status for every well — and to identify and prioritise remediation before the regulator arrived.
SPD’s Approach
SPD assigned a dedicated well integrity team who conducted a systematic barrier status assessment for every well, working through all available well records, MIT histories, annular pressure data, workover reports and completion diagrams. A standardised classification was applied consistently, assigning wells to one of four categories: compliant, monitored, remediation required and critical. A cost-banded remediation estimate was produced for each non-compliant well.
Results & Value Delivered
✔ Full Portfolio Assessed — Every well assessed and classified before the regulatory audit deadline.
✔ Regulatory Audit Passed — Compliance summary accepted by the regulator without material challenge.
✔ Portfolio Liability Quantified — Aggregated cost-banded remediation estimates gave a defensible total integrity liability for board reporting.
