A geothermal energy operator required a formal, independent Well Examination of a high-value production well in their active geothermal field. The well had been in continuous service for a number of years and was approaching a scheduled statutory inspection. The operator needed an authoritative technical assessment of the well’s current integrity status, a review of its fitness for continued service, and a clear set of recommendations to safely extend productive well life.

SPD’s Approach

SPD appointed a dedicated Well Examiner with specialist geothermal and well integrity experience. The examination combined a thorough review of all available documentary evidence with physical inspection of the wellhead and surface equipment. The review assessed each well barrier element against the operator’s well barrier standard, evaluated casing and tubing integrity using current load case analysis, and confirmed cement bond quality from available log data.
